Reiki is an ancient Japanese technique of complementary medicine; it is a natural modality in which healers such as myself channel Chi/Qi life force energy into a recipient in order to promote and allow natural self-healing to take place. Reiki heals the energetic body and spirit, which acts holistically to heal the entire being and subsequently passes on to heal any mental, emotional or physical needs of the mind, brain, and body’s disharmonies. Reiki allows for the reparation and restoration of mind, body and spirit, as well as promoting a sense of peace, balance and well-being. Reiki is traditionally given by non-intrusive, gentle hands-on healing, as this is seen as the most direct way to transfer ki/qi and promote healing, but can also be received via the aura or be sent through distant mediums such as video.
Receiving reiki is a relaxing, meditative experience. Often people will feel physical sensations of energy; there is also the common phenomenon of experiencing beautiful colours during healing in the mind’s eye. Reiki removes depleted and negative energies, clearing away any blockages of the energy system, and allowing for the free flow of energy. The removed energy is then replaced by positive energy which can heal both during and following a reiki session. By allowing a recipient greater access to their body’s own source of natural energy, reiki can allow improvements to continue to be seen for a number of days or longer after the healing has been completed. Many find Reiki to be a transformative and life-changing experience, and for some reiki can totally revitalise well-being and quality of life.
